Derma V10 Unicorn Printed Sheet Mask (Self Care Sunday)

I decided that today was going to be a self care sunday. I’ve been going through a lot lately, which I’ll write about in a personal post but put simply the stress has not been kind to my skin.

This mask is really gentle which was just what I needed. I went through my mask bag looking for something moisturizing, for sensitive skin, with aloe vera. I found what I was looking for, I got these 3 for blogging about a while back but they had been forgotten about. The packet says it softens, soothes, conditions and nourishes.

The problem with sheet masks is they never fit your face properly around your eyes and nose; this one was no different. It looks great on though, it was definitely time to take a selfie or two.

It’s vegan, against animal testing and contains some relaxing natural ingredients like coconut, bamboo lily, chamomile, mint, geranium and aloe vera. I’m glad I got them, I’m going to try not to forget about them again and use one again in a few days, hopefully they’ll clear up the redness.

How To Apply PaintGlow Unicorn Glitter Face & Body Gel Kit

You may have seen the full-size 50ml PaintGlow Chunky Glitter tubes at Superdrug which are currently on sale at £3.95 down from £5.99 but I decided to buy a set of 6 13ml tubes from Browns Cosmetics for £12.99 instead so that I’d have more to swatch! Half of them are iridescent glitters and the other half are metallic glitters, the set also comes with a brush and sponge which you really need to apply it evenly.

The glitter gels claim to be the only chunky glitter in the world that is in a ready to use formula. I think that means the glitters are mixed in with the quick-drying fixing gel so you don’t have to mix anything together. It’s cosmetically certified, not tested on animals and made in the UK; It’s actually made in Cumbria so it’s northern glitter fit for a northern lass!

As you can see in the swatches all of the glitters are hexagonal and in two sizes, the products I’m using from left to right are:

Heartbreaker is a pink iridescent glitter

Mystic Mermaid is a green iridescent glitter

Gold Digger is a gold metallic glitter

Disco Fever is a silver metallic glitter

Helter Skelter is a purple metallic glitter

Unicorn Tears is a white iridescent glitter

The application can be a touch tricky because the formula dries quite quickly. If you’re going to buy an individual tube instead of the set, you should try to find a circular makeup sponge and a detail brush to work it in.

You can apply the glitter on thick or thin depending on how you want it to look. Personally, I find that less is more especially around your eye area it can feel a little uncomfortable if it’s on too thick and if you’re anything like me you’ll probably end up rubbing your eyes and ruining it anyway.

To apply the glitter to your skin squirt a small amount of gel onto the sponge and quickly spread it around your sponge so that none of the glitters are stacked on top of each other. Dab the sponge once on the desired area and then use the detail brush to get any pieces of glitter left on the sponge onto the skin. It can be tempting to dab a few times to get the glitter onto your face and to get rid of some of the excess gel but it dries surprisingly quickly so you need to work fast to get the glitter where you need it! When you’re finished if there are any gaps where you’d like a piece of glitter just use your detail brush to pick up and apply a single piece of glitter straight from the tube.

5 Unicorn Snacks That I’m Obsessed With

I buy these unicorn snacks at B&M, they’re all really cheap yet delicious snacks that belong in a child’s lunchbox but end up in my handbag! This isn’t a favourite list because there’s a load of amazing unicorn snacks I haven’t been able to try yet but these are my B&M faves.

preview (1)

Fruit Funk Naturally Strawberry Flavoured Fruitbar is my favourite because it’s natural, vegan and low calorie and contains a lot of dried fruits. I buy these all the time and have a habit for taking them on my walks.

Mr Kipling Unicorn Slices are delicious little pink vanilla cake slices with lilac fondant icing and decorated with a white chocolate zig zag. They’re really nice.

Steenland Magical Unicorns Milk Chocolate Coins are just like other chocolate coins but with gorgeous unicorn stickers that you can peel off and put on your t-shirt or in your notebook.

Fressers Unicorn Bites are chocolate cream filled mini biscuits with unicorn patterns on the biscuits, they’re a bit like breadsticks with chocolate spread. They have a dino version as well but they both taste a little burnt on the pattern.

Magical Unicorn Pops are a lot like seaside rock, there are four flavours; blackcurrant, bubblegum, strawberry and tropical. I can’t even describe how tasty they are but there is a warning that it may have adverse effects on children’s attention.

Barry M Unicorn Primer Drops

I bought this primer at Superdrug for £7.99. It’s a dupe for Farsali Unicorn Essense, it’s an oil-free formula like the real thing. It’s a 15ml bottle that’s full of a pink shimmery primer. The primer contains fruit and berries that brighten your skin including watermelon, goji berry and acai berry.

The benefits of Unicorn Primer Drops (which is vegan and cruelty-free) include hydration, smoothing and detoxifying and protection from free radical damage. Because of the skin benefits, the primer can also be used as a hydration booster. I personally love using a couple of drops on my cheeks as a subtle blush.

If In Doubt… Be A Unicorn Eyeshadow Palette Obsession

I found this eyeshadow palette in Boots where it costs £5, it contains 8 shades; 3 mattes, 3 shimmers and 2 pressed glitters. It turns out Obsession is another name by the Makeup Revolution London brand. The palette has a see-through and lilac case, there’s no mirror or applicator but there is beautiful holographic writing on the case and the eyeshadows are a decent size. This palette is both vegan and cruelty-free.

Here are the shades as described by Obsession followed by swatches (in bottom to top order):

Alternative – matte baby pink
Magic Dust – pink champagne shimmer
Immortal – white iridescent pressed glitter
Entranced – warm mid-pink
Creature – pink gold pressed glitter
Unconventional – matte warm purple
Elixir – cool cream shimmer
Eternal – champagne shimmer

I shaved my arm this time to get better swatches and my arm feels so soft now! My favourite eyeshadow in the palette is Immortal which is described as white iridescent but I don’t think it’s the best description, it is a white glitter that shines light green under direct light and light pink in the shade. I’d also say that Creature is closer to copper than rose gold.

It’s a really good palette for the price. If you like this palette you might also like Unicorn’s Heart Collection I Heart Revolution. You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram.

Cosmic Unicorn And Mermazing Shower Gels Imperial Leather

These shower gels are available in most supermarkets and many high street stores, usually for £1 or under. The bottles are so beautiful, dare I say Instagram-worthy. The mermaid shower gel has a lovely lotus scent whereas the unicorn shower gel is quite plain like soap. It doesn’t really smell like moon, sparkles or unicorn dust; actually, maybe it does because they don’t have a scent either!

I like Mermazing more than Cosmic Unicorn but my favourite body wash from Imperial Leather is still the Unicorn Marshmallow Foamburst which is sold for around £3 and honestly has a much nicer scent, it’s a pink marshmallow gel which turns to a white foam. I would actually recommend Mermazing to anyone on a budget because it’s a nice scent, pretty bottle and good value.

Unicorn’s Heart Collection I Heart Revolution

I picked up these 3 items at Superdrug, two are by I Heart Revolution and one is Makeup Revolution but they’re both the same brand which also does Revolution Pro (come on guys, pick a name and stick with it)! The Unicorn’s Heart Eyeshadow Palette is £6.99 and there is a deal where it comes with a free lipstick from the same collection. The Unicorn’s Heart Lipstick would usually cost £4 and mine is in the shade Pink Wish. I also got the Rainbow Highlighter, I was going to get the similar Unicorn’s Heart one so I’d have a set but the Makeup Revolution one is in a pretty rainbow shape. It’s also cheaper: the Rainbow highlighter costs £4 whereas the Unicorn’s Heart one costs £4.99.

The Eyeshadow Palette comes with 12 shades, its compact so there’s no mirror or applicator, it’s got a magnet clasp. It’s a little similar to the Under Your Spell Eyeshadow Palette in that it’s some autumnal shades alongside some shimmery and glittery pastel shades. There’s some whites, pinks, purples, blues, burnt tones and a dark grey glittery one. I’ll leave some swatches down at the bottom.

The Rainbow Highlighter can go on as a regular highlighter but can be built up so you can see the rainbow effect, It’s going to get a lot more use in the Summer but I will also use it in my Halloween unicorn look.

The Rainbow’s Heart Lipstick in Pink Wish is a beautiful light pink lipstick with a light blue shimmer, if you roll the lipstick up to the top you will see a cute star pattern. I will probably use this lipstick a lot in the Spring.

Overall, I really love this collection and would recommend it to anyone. To see the similar palette I mentioned check out Under Your Spell Eyeshadow Palette Makeup Revolution. You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram.

Fantasy Unicorn Makeup Brush Set

I picked up these brushes a couple of weeks ago from Savers Health & Beauty. It looks like they were made for Savers. The set contains 3 makeup brushes; a powder brush, A foundation brush and an eyeshadow brush for £4.99. All the brushes are sturdy, they may be budget but they’re functional and a good smaller set dupe for the original Unicorn Cosmetics brushes.

Powder Brush- this brush is a good sized powder brush for the price, it’s ideal for contouring.

Foundation Brush- this brush is really good for applying foundation. Ideally, you would still finish with a blending sponge for perfect results.

Eyeshadow Brush- this brush is for applying eyeshadow, I think it’s best use is using the side to do the under eye area for a smoky look.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturiser

I went on a shopping trip today, I’ve been living in Newcastle for almost a year now but I still can’t navigate my way around Eldon Square. I picked up a few cute unicorn things but I’ll blog about them in a later post. It’s only day 8 of Blogtober so there are 22 more blog posts to write!

I found the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturiser at Superdrug. It’s a really good moisturiser for teenagers, young adults and anyone who suffers from oily skin and break-outs but I wouldn’t recommend it for people with dry or sensitive skin because it’s citrus. Pink grapefruit is an ingredient because it’s an antioxidant that can improve complexion and it also a lovely scent. I felt that it absorbed quickly without leaving my skin feeling greasy.  I love the holographic unicorn box but it’s a pity the bottle itself doesn’t have holographic unicorns.

npw Unicorn Sparkles Confetti Nail Polish

I recently tried npw’s colour changing nail polish but I also bought this confetti polish at the same time. I found it in Sainsbury’s for £7. It’s basically like easy polka dot nail art, you just paint your nails like normal and then apply the confetti polish with a sponge. The first thing I noticed is how heavy the bottle is, it looks like plastic but it’s actually ceramic.

The polish is made of small rainbow pastel circles mixed in with clear top coat nail polish, the brush is a thin striping brush. For some reason, it’s only suitable for people ages 14+ which I just don’t get why. I’d love to hear your theories in the comments!

I also set up twitter for my blog today so follow me on Twitter or Instagram. Here is the post about the npw Unicorn Colour Changing Nail Polish.

Imperial Leather Unicorn Marshmallow Foamburst

This unicorn body wash is so pretty, it smells like marshmallow as well as sort of looking like marshmallow. It comes out as a light pink gel and then expands to a white foam. It lasts up to 40 showers if you use it as a body wash but I also use mine as a shaving foam, it’s a lot better than soap because it doesn’t dry out your skin.

Honestly, it can be a lot of fun just playing with the foam, even though that makes me sound like I’m still in nursery or something. If you want to see before and after pictures of gel turning into foam then head to my Instagram page.

Bomb Cosmetics I Believe In Unicorns Bath Bomb

I found this adorable handmade soap and bath bomb at Brown’s Cosmetics in South Shields, they have an online store which ships worldwide. They also sell perfumes, makeup and gift sets. I just love how beautiful and girly they are, the I Believe In Unicorns bath blaster actually turns the bath water pink. They sell other unicorn bath bombs that I’m likely to buy soon too including the All I Want For Christmas Is U-nicorn Bath Blaster and The Last Unicorn Bath Blaster. They’re only 2 for £5 so they make great gifts or even gifts to yourself.

Bomb Cosmetics are cruelty-free and they also use bio-degradable glitters so they’re not harmful to the environment. All of the bombs and soaps contain essential oils, they don’t really have a strong scent but they’re good for your skin. If you want to see a video of the bath bomb being dropped in the water then head to my Instagram page.

npw Unicorn Colour Changing Nail Polish

Christmas gift sets are already making it to the supermarket shelves at Sainsbury’s and among them, I found this set of 2 colour changing nail polishes by npw. The set cost £6, I also picked up the unicorn sparkles confetti nail polish which I’m looking forward to trying out next time I do my nails.

The orange 2 yellow polish was quite disappointing as the shift isn’t very obvious and it takes 3 to 4 coats before the colour is solid. The purple 2 pink polish looks stunning though, If you run it under the hot tap it will turn pink and under the cold tap it will turn purple. If you have long nails the polish should turn pink from your body heat but stay purple on the tips like mine. It’s a beautiful effect that can look a little like a french tip or an ombre. Luckily the purple 2 pink polish applies perfectly in 1 to 2 coats. It’s a pity the bottle is only 8ml because it could look good in a water marble but I wouldn’t want to waste the polish

How To Use Colab Unicorn Dry Shampoo

Today is the 1st of October so this will be my first post as part of Blogtober 2018 which is a 30-day challenge to blog every single day. I’m going to be showing you how to use dry shampoo, I’m using these two from Colab. I don’t actually have a favourite, I love the unicorn fragrance one but the grl pwr one made with Missguided is super cute too and the cap comes with a voucher for 20% off when you shop at Missguided.

Dry shampoo can be a great way of keeping your hair looking good and preventing greasy hair. It should definitely be in your bag if you’re going camping or to a sleepover party but it can also save you if you wake up too late for a shower. These dry shampoos are without white residue so they’re suitable for use with any hair colour.

First you will need to get any tangles out of your hair, then you can part your hair, you need to keep parting your hair all the way through because you need to spray your roots.

Second keep parting and spraying your roots, try to keep the can around 8 inches away from your scalp.

Third run your fingers through your hair to spread the shampoo, it will take a couple of minutes to dry.

Forth brush and style as you usually would.

Only use it a maximum of three days in a row because it will build up, your hair still needs to be washed properly. Dry shampoo isn’t a replacement for your normal shampoo but it can be used between washes to remove grease from your hair and add a touch of volume. These ones also have lovely girly fragrances that make your hair smell nice.

Peacocks’ Unicorn Brushes

My latest impulse buy is these brushes from Peacocks. There is a hairbrush for £5 and a set of 4 makeup brushes for £8. All of these bushes’ handles are shaped like unicorn horns, the colours are metallic in a mint green to lilac ombre.

Paddle Hairbrush- I threw my old vented hairbrush out because this one is just super cute and also goes through easier.

Large Powder Brush- This brush is good for a foundation finishing powder or a pressed bronzer/ blush.

Medium Powder Brush- This brush is very similar to the large one except because it’s smaller it’s better for contouring.

Round Shadow Brush- This brush applies the eyeshadow quite dull so it’s quite good for blending and diffusing the colour around the edge of the eyes but I wouldn’t ditch the mini eyeshadow applicators just yet!

Angled Eyebrow/ Eyeliner Brush- This brush is really good because it can be used to apply eyeshadow as an eyeliner and is perfect for brows too.
